When looking for a roofer, it is important to take the time to do your research to find a company that meets your needs and is reputable. Below is a list of what to look for in a roofing company.

• Licensing and Insurance
• One of the first and most important things to check out when hiring a roofing contractor is whether they are licensed and insured.  It is easy to check for a business license. You can look a contractor up online at the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing website. 
• When checking for insurance, you want to check for both liability and workers compensation. Liability insurance will protect you if any damage were to occur to either your roof or home. For example, if an uninsured contractor improperly seals up a roof prior to a rainstorm while they are working on it, you could be required to pay to fix the damages. Workers Compensation will protect you from being sued if an employee gets hurt on your property.

• Price vs. Quality
• Be cynical of super low bids. If it seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is. While a lower price may seem attractive at first, cheap contractors are often uninsured and perform poor quality work. Knowledge, quality workmanship, and professionalism should all weigh heavily in your decision making.
